Matahari Won Best Equitable Treatment of Shareholders and TOP 20 Big Cap Public Listed Companies

Jakarta, 15th October, 2019 – The 11th Corporate Governance (CG) Conference and Award marks the sixth year PT. Matahari Department Store Tbk has won the TOP 20 Biggest Market Cap public listed companies (Big Cap PLCs) for the Good Corporate Governance (GCG) practices. In the 11th CG and Award, Matahari also awarded in the Best Equitable Treatment of Shareholders category. The 11th CG Conference and Award were held by the Indonesian Institute for Corporate Directorship (IICD) on Monday, 14th October 2019 at Pullman Hotel Jakarta, Jl. M. H Thamrin No.59.

In line with the IICD’s mission to internalize best practices of GCG and directorship in Indonesia, IICD had once again selected around 600 public listed companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). They chose and conducted an assessment to 200 companies with the biggest and middle market capitalization based on the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard. The assessment was done in two steps: Assessment, conducted by the internal team of IICD consisted of trained and experience assessors; done through intensive discussion between the assessors and reviewers team. From the assessment, the Top 50 companies both from the biggest and middle capitalization category with the highest score for GCG implementation were chosen, and Matahari is included in TOP 20 Big Cap PLCs and awarded in the category Best Equitable Treatment of Shareholders.

The 11th CG Conference and Award’s theme were “Empowering BOC and Its Committees to Ensure GCG Implementation”. For the appreciation night, IICG was in partnership with Berita Satu and supported by the Indonesian Institute for Public Governance (IIPG) and PT. Citra Negeri Amanah (subsidiary of IICD).
