3 Collections from Indonesia Fashion Forward Designer At 16 Matahari Department Store

For the first time, Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) collaborates with Matahari Department Store through Indonesia Fashion Forward (IFF), capacity development program for Indonesian designers. This collaboration presents 3 IFF designers to showcase their collections at 16 Matahari Department Store in Indonesia big cities such as Jakarta, Bogor, Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Makassar, Palembang, Jambi, and Banda Aceh. Fashion lovers are able to enjoy and purchase the collections from Norma Hauri, Restu Anggraini, and Rani Hatta, which designed exclusively for the collaborations.

“For IFF, this collaboration is a good opportunity for designers to know more about retail industry, and they also able to develop their business in local markets, as they will broaden their collections coverage to be enjoyed by more fashion lovers in Indonesia,” said Lenni Tedja, Director of JFW.

Lenni continued, besides in 16 Matahari Department Store, for long term, through this collaboration, the collections of these three designers also available in other cities. Furthermore, there will be more IFF designers involved.

IFF, which is a capacity development program for Indonesian young designer and has been going on for six years, successfully proven to accelerate the development of local labels and reach the international markets. Year on year, IFF and JFW collaborated with various fashion organization and international culture center, such as British Council, Korean Culture Center (KCC), Japan Fashion Week Organisation, DITP Thailand, Council of Fashion Designers of Korea, Fashion Design Council India who held Amazon India Fashion Week, Australia-Indonesia Centre, Melbourne Fashion Festival, Isituto Marangoni, London College of Fashion, Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Guangzhou Fashion Week, University of the Arts London, as well as The Woolmark Company, to give the opportunity for IFF designers to bring, showcase, and market their collections in the related countries.

Last year, Norma Hauri – known with her sleek dress in bold colors, yet always emphasize courtesy element with contemporary design – showcased her collections in Fashion Week Tokyo, Japan. This April, Rani Hatta – who has sporty and masculine design in monochrome, such as black, grey – also has showcased her collections in Fashion Week Tokyo. While Restu Anggraini, besides has participated in Fashion Week Tokyo in 2015 after winning Australia-Indonesia Centre Young Indonesia Fashion Designer Awards in Jakarta Fashion Week 2016, she, who is known with her contemporary and modern yet simple stripped fashion design, has showcased her collections in Melbourne Fashion Festival 2016.
